Format standards are lacking for getting audio streams and metadata cloud-ready and onto a Content Delivery Network (CDN). Wheatstone Development Engineer Rick Bidlack goes over the format differences in the major CDN platforms and automation systems and how interventions such as Lua transformation filtering can more effectively hand off streams and metadata from one to the other. He covers what’s trending in streaming protocols, from HLS and ICEcast to RTMP and RTP, and explores basic audio streaming options today as well as new cloud options, app development, geofencing, webcast metrics, and revenue opportunities. Finally, he covers what you need to know about targeted ad insertion and metadata cleansing services as well as coming Nielsen encoding for listenership stats for building on the future of streaming and metadata services.
