Technical Operations Manager Hubbard - Washington, DC

Brian Oliger is Manager of Technology for Hubbard Radio in Washington, DC, supervising day-to-day technical operations for WTOP, the top-rated all-news radio station in Washington, and Federal News Network – WFED.


Oliger holds a B.A. in broadcast journalism from Washington & Lee University and has worked both on the air and in the technical side of radio and television for the past 35 years in Cleveland, Philadelphia and Washington. His current responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of all broadcast, information and telecommunications technology for a 200-person staff working at WTOP’s famed state-of-the-art “Glass-Enclosed Nerve Center” newsroom and studios, plus coordinating WTOP and WFED’s participation the Emergency Alert System as the Washington, DC LP-1 and PEP stations, respectively.

Oliger has served as the Vice Chair for Chapter 37 of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, as a member of the Federal Communications Commission’s Communications Security, Reliability and Interoperability Council (CSRIC) III, the FCC’s CSRIC IV EAS Working Group, and is currently a member of the U.S. Communications Sector Coordinating Council and past member of the Media Industry Crisis Preparedness Roundtable. He is a member of the National Press Club and is a 1996 AIR (Achievement in Radio) award winner.


Oliger is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and remains a long-suffering yet always hopeful Cleveland sports fan.
